Well, not really! But the Samoans, who are located close to the International Date Line, have decided to “go to the future” by skipping one day – Dec 30. They have once shifted “back in time”, about 120 years ago, to align themselves with the US, as their economic trade was mostly with the US, but it is increasingly shifting towards Australia and New Zealand. Since they are now conducting most of their
trade in the west side of the Pacific, they have decided to make the switch to the west of
the Date Line, that is, to the East, to align themselves with Australia and New Zealand.
