Although Apple delayed the lauch of the iPhone 5, and preferred to call it iPhone 4s, it does include its upgrade iOS 5 operating system. The iOS5 includes more than 200 new features for your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, says Apple an impact, let’s take a look at one that will make immediate sense to all iPhone users.
iMessage is a new messaging service for all iOS 5 users, which means that those of us using the older OS will have to upgrade for free after October 12, 2011, when this upgrade is released.
iMessage enables users of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to send unlimited text messages via Wi-Fi or 3G to anyone with one of those devices.
iMessage is built into the Messages app, so you can send text, photos, videos, locations, and contacts. It has a group messaging feature that allows you to broadcast as well.
Track your messages with delivery receipts and optional read receipts, see when someone’s typing, and enjoy secure encryption for text messages. Even start a conversation on one of your iOS devices and pick up where you left off on another.
Is it going to replace Whats App ? I doubt because it is not cross-platform, which means with your other Blackberry, and Android, or Symbian friends you still are better off with Whats App !!
And let us just hope that our UAE operators Etisalat, and Du, decide not to block this one too.
